YouTube student discount

If you have an active paid subscription on YouTube (excluding NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube or YouTube TV) and want to switch to a student subscription, you must first cancel your current subscription.

To purchase a YouTube student subscription, you must:

• Be enrolled as a student at a higher education institution;

• The higher education institution must be approved by SheerID. Eligibility is determined by the SheerID program.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be eligible for the student subscription for a maximum of four consecutive years. You will need to reverify your eligibility each year.

• If SheerID can confirm your eligibility using your university email credentials, you will be redirected to YouTube to continue the sign-up process.

• If your eligibility is not confirmed immediately, you will be asked to upload a photo of your student ID. The uploaded photo will be manually reviewed. You will receive an email about your eligibility within 20 minutes in the U.S. For other locations outside the U.S., it may take up to 48 hours depending on the volume of requests. Don’t worry — on average, it only takes a few minutes regardless of your location.

If your eligibility is confirmed through the additional step, you will receive a confirmation email. Follow the instructions in the email to complete the sign-up process.

• Select the payment method you wish to use or add a new one.
